March 2010 see’s the release of one of the N64s real gaming gems on Xbox Live. Think Elvis, think RARE, think the laptop gun…
For those of you who don’t know what on earth I’m going on about, shame on you! I’m in fact talking about Perfect Dark, the game that was seen as the spiritual successor to RARE‘s Goldeneye (which was an earlier release on the N64).
Perfect Dark introduced the world to Joanne Dark and the dataDyne corporation. A fast paced FPS, with a rather strange main storyline and an addictive multiplayer mode. Thanks to the success of Goldeneye, Perfect Dark was hotly anticipated and soon became a runaway success on Nintendo’s last home cartridge based console (handhelds aside, that is).
Those who do remember playing the original will be glad to hear that not a lot of the game has really changed. The remake for the 360 see’s the game running in High Definition glory, with reworked geometry to allow smoother movement and better textures. 4 player split-screen multiplayer returns, adding Goldeneye’s arsenal of weapons and a couple of it’s levels into the multiplayer mix. If that hasn’t tempted you enough yet, I’ve yet to mention it’ll be playable online…oh yes…online multiplayer Perfect Dark!
Don’t believe me? Check out the trailer below posted by gaming blog site GiantBomb.com:
This shall make up for the disappointing Perfect Dark Zero which was released as a launch title for the Xbox 360. Thanks RARE!
