Kingston MobileLite Review

Earlier this year we looked at the Kingston Wi-Drive a portable wireless storage device that allowed you to receive and stream data to a multitude of devices at the same time.

Kingston’s latest product the MobileLite has done away with the fixed storage of the Wi-Drive and has opted for a more user friendly way to stream you’re digital content.

The MobileLite does not include a fixed hard drive this time around, instead you can plug in your own USB 2.0 device or use the SD card slot that supports SDHC, SDXC, and micro SD to then share your media with up to 3 other users at the same time. A simple App is downloaded from the Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store or amazon’s market place and once paired with the Wi-Fi 802.11g/n receiver that’s built into the MobileLite you can then stream a whole range of content to the said mobile phone, tablet or web browser.

The Kingston’s MobileLite also doubles up as a charger thanks to the built in Li-Polymer 1800mAh 3.7v battery. Smart phones don’t always have the best of battery life so it’s always handy to know that you’ve got a solid portable way of charging you phone via the USB port.

The design and simplicity of the MobileLite is what makes the device a joy to work with. Enabling me to plug in my own USB stick or memory cards makes it a more pleasing piece of kit to use and is perfect for road trips or Holidays, the last thing you want to do is confuse your self trying to arrange different media types and as a Nexus 7 tablet user with limited storage space, I can now carry my media files and stream them across to my device with ease.
